Bicentennial Planning Meeting February 13th

A Bicentennial Committee Planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13th at 7:00pm in Council Chambers.

The Village of Cleves needs your help to make the Bicentennial Celebration a success!

We are working on plans that currently include a 5k Fun Run and a festival with food and music on July 14th.

More information will be available as we add more events. We are looking for volunteers and donations for the events.

If you would like to contribute a monetary donation, contributions will be accepted in the payments box outside of the Water Works office or via mail to the address below (checks made payable to the Village of Cleves noting the Bicentennial Celebration Fund):

Notice of Public Hearings - February 2018

On February 14, 2018, the Village of Cleves Council will hold two public hearings.

The first public hearing will begin at 6:30 P.M. to discuss amendments to the Village of Cleves' Zoning Ordinance regarding signage.

The second public hearing will begin at 6:45 P.M. to discuss East Scott Street and Wamsley Avenue each becoming one-way streets.

Such hearings will be held at the Village of Cleves Council Chambers located at 101 N. Miami Avenue, Cleves.

2018 Calendar Celebrates Village of Cleves 200th

The 2018 Three Rivers Historical Society calendar will be released in December featuring the Village of Cleves, which is celebrating its bicentennial in 2018.

Calendars cost $10 and can be purchased on December 2, 2017 from 9am-8pm during the Christmas Celebration at the Miami Township Senior Center, 8 N. Miami Avenue, Cleves, OH 45002.

Beginning December 4th while supplies last, calendars can also be purchased at the Village of Cleves Administrative/Waterworks Office, 92 Cleves Avenue, Cleves, OH 45002 Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm, or by contacting Terry Simpson at

Bicentennial Logo Contest Winner

Thank you to everyone who submitted a design for the Village of Cleves Bicentennial Logo Contest. The Village was impressed with all 18 entries that were submitted!

We are pleased to announce the winning Village of Cleves Bicentennial logo, created by Natalie Broering of Cleves.

Natalie won the $100 prize*. She was recognized at the November 8th Cleves Council Meeting by Mayor Jan Rouse. Congratulations Natalie!

Traffic Pattern Changes for Cleves Community Park

Effective Tuesday, April 18, 2017, the Cleves Community Park will have a new ONE-WAY traffic pattern. The one-way entrance into the park will be from Route 50 and West State Road (next to the Dental Depot) and the one-way exit will be on Lower River Road (EXCLUDING EMMERGENCY VEHICLES). The park will have traffic signs indicating this new traffic pattern. Please use extreme caution while driving through the park.

Looking Ahead to Bicentennial

In 1818, the Village of Cleves was established by John Cleves Symmes. In 2018, the Village of Cleves will celebrate its 200th anniversary and the Cleves Bicentennial Committee is now being formed. Interested residents (past or present, old or new) are encouraged to join the committee to help plan the festivities. Please contact Mayor Jan Rouse at for more details.
