Change in Leadership for the Village of Cleves

February 9, 2017 – Cleves, OH – At the Village of Cleves Council Meeting on February 8, 2017, Mayor Danny Stacy tendered the resignation of his elected-office as Mayor of the Village of Cleves effective at 11:59pm February 8, 2017. He cited personal and family commitments and obligations as the reason for his resignation. Stacy began his second consecutive 4 year term as Mayor on January 1, 2016.

By Ohio Statute, President Pro Tempore (also known as Vice Mayor) Jan Rouse will serve as Mayor for the remainder of 2017. The General Election on November 14, 2017 will feature a vote to fill the remainder of the unexpired Mayor term (January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2019).

Acting Mayor Jan Rouse commented, "I’ve served on Council and as Vice Mayor for over 5 years. The Village of Cleves has made many great changes in recent years with Danny Stacy as Mayor. I’m looking forward to working with Village Administrator Mike Rahall and the rest of Council to continue the positive momentum and growth."

Council Member Stephen Myers was elected by Council to serve as Vice Mayor for the remainder of 2017. The council seat vacated by Ms. Rouse will be filled by appointment for the remainder of 2017. Interested parties in the vacant council seat should submit a resume and letter of intent to Mayor Jan Rouse at jan.rouse@cleves.org by March 7, 2017.

The announcement was unexpected, but Council wished Mr. Stacy well for the future and thanked him for his service. Stacy remarked, "I've been dedicated to this village my entire life and have enjoyed serving in some capacity over the last 14 years. Unfortunately, my personal and family commitments have become so demanding of my time that I feel I’m no longer able to offer the time and effort the Village should expect of its Mayor."
